Description:
Nearly every year since 2017, Hammerstone has offered a totally free class to our Immigrant and Refugee community members. For this one-day workshop, students from all over the world who have found a home here in Ithaca join us at Hammerstone for a few hours of building skills and building community.

In this class we use tools to build a useful planter box. You will learn how to measure parts, how to safely cut wood with a circular saw, and how to connect those pieces together with screws. Many of our students in this class are new English learners so we have more helpers for each student. We also have helpers who speak foreign languages. We use lots of pictures in our teaching.
