In this 5-day class, students learn the fundamentals of stick framing, the process by which most modern structures are constructed. In this course we frame a shed, but the techniques learned can be applied to any structure.
Carpentry fundamentals taught in this course include tools of the trade, measuring and marking, using hand- and circular- saws, assembly with screws and nails, and understanding wood as a material. Students build a pair of sawhorses.
Tangled, twisted, and somehow always in a knot when you need them most—ratchet straps have a way of testing your patience. In this 2-hour tutorial, we’ll break down the mystery and get you confidently securing loads without the frustration. Whether you’ve avoided them or just want to get faster and cleaner with your setup, this class will have you wrangling straps like a pro.
Build your own low stool from scratch! On day one, we will guide you through joining wood with mortise and tenon techniques, finishing techniques and milk paint application. On day two, guest instructor Phil Syphrit will teach traditional patterns such as herringbone and basketweave using rattan. By the end you will have created a functional piece that’s truly one of a kind.
