Hammerstone courses are open to all women and gender minorities. Hammerstone welcomes all trans folks including trans men. This course welcomes folks of all skill levels with no prerequisite.

Description: 
This course is an introduction to basic woodcarving. In this class you will design and carve at least one traditional folk art style wall hanging or candle holder out of softwood using a variety of wood carving tools. This workshop will cover preparation of materials, safe hand tool use and simple and effective finishing techniques. We will also spend time discussing wood and its properties so you can learn more about the meditative practice of low-relief carving.
