Who is this class for:
Hammerstone courses are open to all women and gender minorities. Hammerstone welcomes all trans folks including trans men. This course welcomes folks of any skill level without a prerequisite.

Description:
This class will emphasize electrical safety as well as how to ensure a lamp’s structural integrity. We’ll demonstrate how to disassemble a single socket table lamp, properly replace the plug, cord and socket, and reassemble the lamp. Along the way, we’ll talk about the many nuts, washers, bushings and other fasteners needed to keep your lamp safe and sturdy.

Participants will have the hands-on opportunity to practice the three foundational components of lamp repair: preparing lamp cord ends, installing a plug, and wiring a lamp socket. Every student will leave with a detailed list of all the parts and tools used in the class and where to buy them online.

Have a broken lamp you want to fix? We won’t have time to work on student lamps during class, but feel free to bring your lamp and pick our brains about it at the end of class.
