Hammerstone courses are open to all women and gender minorities. Hammerstone welcomes all trans folks including trans men. This course welcomes folks of any skill level without a prerequisite.

Description:
While the circular saw is one of the most versatile cutting tools at our disposal, it lacks a bit of refinement.  With lots of practice and a good blade, you can be a lot neater, but you would be hard pressed to reach the level of control offered by a miter saw.

This saw, essentially a circular saw mounted on an armature with a fence and base plate to support your work, allows you to make cross cuts with ease and precision.  You can even make compound miter cuts, which angle in two axes!  Every student will have ample time to practice basic cuts on the chop saw, and we’ll even explore more complicated cuts used in trim carpentry like crown molding.
